Hi, I'm Johnny and I'm cool. Well, maybe. I'll let you be the judge of that.
I'm a retired actor and singer who's now an online English language teacher. I teach english language lessons to both adults and children however I do mainly teach kids esl. I've taught esl lessons on numerous language platforms. I enjoy hiking, travelling and of course teaching. I'm also a Christian and respect all different cultures and faiths.

Why independent teaching?
Through my experience I've found that although language platforms are very convenient for both learning and teaching, most of them are above anything else, businesses. Businesses that are focused on the 'experience' more than the actual education. I've heard these classes referred to as 'language learning cosplay' and to an extent I agree with this, which is why I'm an independent teacher. I'm here to provide classes that are thoroughly enjoyable and more importantly, thoroughly effective. I don't care how much fun their lessons have been, If a student can't demonstrate good, noticeable improvements despite being halfway through their 2nd Cambly Curriculum, there's an issue.
10 minutes of tic tac toe every 30 min lesson may well be part of that issue, though.
Classes
I mainly teach children on the fun and interactive platform 'Koala Go'. My lessons are usually very gamified and interactive as I believe learning shouldn't feel like something we 'have' to do but something we 'want' to do.
With adults the teaching platform isn't really as important but Koala Go is perfectly good for this too. It has a great co-browser feature, screen sharing and I'll even include some confetti and star emotes if you really want them ;)

BA Hons degree in Acting (Mountview Theatre School)
TEFL Certificate - 120 hour (Tefl Org)
